Lotus Award
for Nursing and Clinical Care
The Lotus Award for Nursing and Clinical Care was created in loving memory of Dr. Jang Ho Lee who passed away in October 2022, and in appreciation of all those who provided care to him at the end of his life as well as the selfless nursing and clinical care staff who have helped the Lee and Park families over the years regardless of economic class, nationality, race, or other station in life. Dr. Lee lived his entire life practicing Buddhist doctrine and guided many people in meditation and Buddhist teaching. He earned a PhD in Asian medicine, specializing in herbal science and acupuncture, and treated many patients until the last days of his life. In his final weeks of life, he received exceptional care from nurses and clinical staff at Holy Name Medical Center in New Jersey. His family was struck by the kindness, selflessness, love, and concern that members of the staff exhibited, above and beyond the responsibilities of their roles. In gratitude for their service -- and for the service of all those who help others out of the goodness of their hearts, often unseen and uncelebrated -- the Lotus Awards aim to lift up shining examples of service to others and the community.
Anyone may nominate a candidate for this award who works at one of the participating hospitals using our form or any means provided by the hospital.
Nominees should be currently practicing hospital nurses or clinical care staff.

This award recognizes community leaders, volunteers, and organizations who have demonstrated a true spirit and commitment for community service. Recipients have the potential to inspire even more people to engage in community service.
